Lou is someone you'll find yourself reaching out to for advice. Lou has a great sense of humor and appreciates that work can and should be fun. He also has the knowledge and skills required to successfully bring change to organizations.
Lou has three decades of experience in operations management; he has worked to improve and enhance organizations, helping them effectively and efficiently serve and impact clientele. Throughout his career, he has run and partnered with non-profit, faith-based, and for-profit organizations. He has learned how to navigate the challenges that inevitably arise while working with limited resources and in an environment with professional and volunteer leadership. Because he truly understands where his clients are coming from, he can make real impact toward strengthening your organization.
He is innovative and uses his creative thinking to solve complex problems. Lou understands people and works with them to reduce tensions, increase motivation, and create strong partnerships. He finds fulfillment in the lives he touches and the communities he impacts through his work.
As Lou puts it, he likes to "fix what’s broken and make great what was good." Since launching Dynamic Change Solutions six years ago, Lou has helped more than 150 organizations implement successful change to increase their effectiveness and impact. He identifies issues, creates strategies, and works to achieve long-term goals. Lou is also a moving speaker and has given inspiring talks across North America.
He has steered organizations through transitions, recessions, and restructuring. Prior to launching Dynamic Change Solutions, Lou served as the Chief Operating Officer for JFGA, a metropolitan Atlanta-based organization that distributes over $30 million annually. There, he created and directed new fundraising, marketing and fund-distribution strategies which boosted annual and planned giving.
Additionally, he served as Southeast and South Florida Regional Director and the Associate Vice President for Research and Development at UJC, an international development organization that raises over $2 billion a year. Lou spent 15 years as CEO of several campus and young-adult outreach organizations, providing nationally-recognized, award-winning programs.
Lou is a certified DiSC®, Myers Briggs ® and Change Style Indicator® facilitator. He has served as an adjunct faculty member at Columbia Theological Seminary and a guest lecturer at Emory University. A native of San Francisco, Lou was awarded his Doctor of Divinity, honoris causa degree in 2012 from the Hebrew Union College for 25 years of service to the non-profit sector.
Tali Benjamin, Chief Wordsmith & Founder of The Word Shop, has over a decade of experience leading strategic marketing, messaging, and planning efforts for non-profit organizations and service industry clients, including The Epstein School, Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, Memphis Botanic Garden, GA Retina, and DeKalb Medical. Tali knows that bringing out the “why” in what you do connects with people and influences the decisions they make.
Prior to her work in marketing, Tali followed her passion for writing as the Special Projects Editor for Jezebel Magazine and Managing Editor of Atlanta Parent Magazine. She graduated from the University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism & Mass Communication.
Arlene Cohn spent 21 years in IT until she decided to leave corporate America to run the speaking and training business she owned with her husband. She ran every aspect of the business - accounts payable/receivable, website building and maintenance, creation of marketing materials and training materials, and customer relations.
This worked so well that Arlene decided to provide these types of services to other businesses and for the past 5 years has operated her own Virtual Assistant business. She does just about everything!
Arlene graduated from the State University of New York at Albany.
Lara Dorfman, Associate Consultant at Dynamic Change Solutions, is passionate about building nonprofit capacity and helping organizations most effectively achieve their mission. Lara specializes in program evaluation and organizational scans, including designing and analyzing tools to gain information to best inform organizational strategy development and decision-making. Lara’s areas of expertise also include strategic planning, governance and board development, and meeting facilitation.
Lara has over 20 years of nonprofit experience and has been partnering with Dynamic Change Solutions for over 5 years. Lara previously served as the Executive Director of the Jewish Educational Loan Fund (JELF). Lara received a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Georgia State University with a Concentration in Nonprofit Management.
Jo Cranford Hodges has more than 18 years of experience in fundraising, development operations, external relations, and strategic planning in corporate, non-profit and government sectors. Following a corporate career, Jo transitioned to CARE USA in fundraising and external relations roles, with an annual revenue target of $120 million. At CARE, Jo served as the Executive Director of the Key Markets and Engagement team, managing the organization’s local engagement of volunteers, donors, and supporters in strategic markets in the US, with a specific focus on Atlanta. Following CARE, Jo held the position of Senior Director, Major Gifts with the National Arthritis Foundation and was responsible for developing the organization’s national foundation fundraising strategy, resulting in increased revenue and the development of strategic partnerships with key foundations.
A lifelong resident of the Atlanta area, Jo received her BA from Agnes Scott College. She is a member of the Governing Board of Woodward Academy and currently is the chair of the Advancement Committee. An active member and volunteer at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, Jo teaches first grade and adult studies, serves on the church outreach committee and volunteers with The Zaban Paradies Center.
Jeff Nagel, Principal of Left Brain-Right Brain Consulting, regularly partners with Dynamic Change Solutions providing critical data analyses. He has been providing analytics for a variety of industries, including non-profits, for over 30 years, conducting financial, fundraising and marketing analyses. As a volunteer in the nonprofit sector, he has served as an organization's treasurer, where he developed automated financial reporting with forecasting tools to improve cash flow management and has provided in-depth financial analysis of fundraising, preschool, religious school and membership trends. Jeff has also taught marketing skills to faith-based employees and laypeople to help increase membership, fundraising and event attendance.
